World War II German Navy Officer 2nd Model Dagger by Eickhorn

Having a 9.875-inch / 25-cm double etched, dual fullered, drop forged steel and nickel plated blade including “Original Eickhorn Solingen” with correct “squirrel looking over shoulder” mark on reverse of ricasso, gilt brass hilt retaining buffer pad and push-button locking mechanism just below the ricasso and above the anchor insignias mirrored within center of cross guard and having acanthus leaves culminating outward to rosettes, ivory tone celluloid grip having twisted-wire wrapping spiraling downward to meet naval eagle clutching wreath / laurels pommel, dagger retaining metallic silver tone fabric portepee lashed around junction of pommel and grip before tied around cross guard in the authentic kriegsmarine style, gilt brass “lightning bolt” variation scabbard, retaining throat screws and dual, side by side suspension rings each affixed to scabbard by oak leaf form rings and including black velvet-lined fabric hangers each having uniformly gilt finished hardware including double lion head oval fastener and clips with a single hanger correctly displaying open hook connected by O-ring chain to integrated loop on lower portion of a clip; together with foam-padded, microfiber surfaced 18-inch zippered “Ace Case” made in the U.S. able to store sheathed dagger and hangers

Dimensions: Length: 16 5/8 inches (including scabbard)

Condition: Good, overall light wear consistent with normal use; minor areas a minimal surface discoloration on ricasso and immediately above buffer pad, occasional light scuffs and scratches, light runner mark visible along a single etched portion, motifs crisply defined and nickel plating free of any major rust or deep pitting, push button locking mechanism retaining tension with resistance and functions strongly, some occasional areas of finish darkening throughout hilt, grip crack free with wire bound firmly in place, wear to portepee, mostly concentrated around free-hanging portion immediately outside knotting on guard as well as on "knot" portion, consistent with age, friction and normal carrying; scabbard having (2) shallow dents in potion between finial and second ring, consistent with field use / capture and retains much of its gilt finish having occasional light scuffs and scratches; hangers, including lion fasteners retain vast majority of original gilt finish, a single metal eyelet missing from the cloth portion of hanger with chain, all (4) clips from ends of each hanger still working with proper tension
