Hand Illuminated Manuscript Copy of Gil Blas
(5) total items including a copy of Gil Blas, written by Alain-René Lesage (French, 1668-1747) in 1715, this anonymous English translation manuscript copy appears to be a 19th century Arts and Crafts movement production, thirty-six sheets having twenty-nine hand painted watercolor illustrations, illuminated chapter heads and initials, the text rendered in a neat cursive hand, unpaginated, disbound from the untitled full morocco covers; together with (3) Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print books and a British woven silk panel illustrating ‘The Lady Godiva Procession’ on printed card by Thomas Stevens Stevengraph Works, Coventry
