Limoges ‘Coronation of Mary’ Enamel Triptych
Gothic style leather covered hinge triptych having gold leaf embossing, a 19th century central rectangular polychrome painted panel depicting the coronation of Mary and (9) smaller oval and circular related polychrome painted panels
Provenance: Collection of Lucy and Stanley Lopata, St. Louis, Missouri; thence by descent
Property from: a Chicago, Illinois (Gold Coast) estate
Height: 16 inches, Width: 17 3/4 inches (open)
Condition: Good, bottom edge of central panel having light scratching, adhesive residue and a 1-inch spider crack in lower left corner; (11) crown ornaments missing; upper right circular panel having crazing; lower left circular panel missing cape ornament; occasional light surface scratches overall; wood case having split at center of base, expansion crack at top, leather having nicks, scuffs, scratches with some losses and fading overall, areas of gold loss to embossing overall
