Viennese Silver and Enamel Horn Form Libation Cup
Polychrome enamel, decorated overall with mythological and allegorical scenes; silver rim on base is marked ‘R.L.’ and ‘A’
Provenance: Collection of Lucy and Stanley Lopata, St. Louis, Missouri; thence by descent
Property from: a Chicago, Illinois (Gold Coast) estate
Height: 11 1/4 inches
Condition: Good, base not attached; base having enamel loss on top rim where the metal meets; dragon slightly loose, portion of securing peg seems absent, and having tarnish and white residue; minor areas of scratches and paint loss in the center of the horn; inpainting where dragon head connects to horn; top edges having several small areas of enamel loss; an area of enamel loss and cracked enamel held together with tape; back scroll at top appears to have broken off and been repaired; chip with enamel loss near end of horn tail
