Polychrome painted having the story of ‘The Garden of Eden’ on lid, interior having a soldier and creatures using the brass attachment to base as the shield; base having a foliage motif
Provenance: Collection of Lucy and Stanley Lopata, St. Louis, Missouri; thence by descent
Property from: a Chicago, Illinois (Gold Coast) estate
Height: 11 inches, Diameter: 7 1/2 inches (with lid)
Condition: Good, overall light wear consistent with age and normal use; lid having a minor chip with loss on Eve’s legs, some chips around edge of brass banding, gold paint around bottom edge worn in some areas; tazza having tape residue on interior, small chips with repaint around upper edge under banding, base having chips, nicks and scuffs
