Prussian Model 1889 Infantry Officer Presentation Sword and Scabbard
Customized sword having single-edged, double fullered blade; ribbed grip with decorative metal wire trim; Imperial Eagle in relief at base of guard having Kaiser Wilhelm II crest in center breast; Wilhelm II applied brass cypher to obverse grip; personalization on blade reading ‘H. Bodenheim J.R. von Wittich Kriegsschule Hannover 1892/93’; double-sided Damascene customization at the ricasso and beyond depicting filigree and an eagle crest on one side and inscription reading ‘Eisenhauer Damast-Stahl’ on reverse; inscription under lip of guard reading ‘Gesetzlich Geschutzt’ (translation: legally protected); leather loop between grip and guard; scabbard loop to one side and belt loop to rear of scabbard; together with steel scabbard painted black
Condition: Very Good, overall light wear consistent with age and use; some metal bands on the grip loose
