Randall Made ‘Model 17 – Astro’ Custom Astronaut Knife
Final design by David Cooper, for the seven Mercury astronauts who each carried a prior model during America’s first manned space flight, having 5.625-inch satin-finished modified drop point blade including 2.5-inch false edge swedge, marked ‘Randall Made, Orlando, FLA.’ between two sword stamps and ‘S’ having pronounced stainless steel double hilt and visible full tang construction, utilizing (2) removable bolts / handle pins which open to provide a storage compartment within a slot cut in tang and corresponding hollows in angular beveled black linen micarta handle scales
