English Regency Style Marquetry Drop Front Desk
Figured mahogany veneers throughout including back; oak secondary wood; pictorial mixed wood marquetry to front lid depicting a periwigged gentleman at his writing table amid floral scrolls which also decorate the top, sides and (2) exterior dovetailed drawers; working locks and key, ormolu lock escutcheons and scroll to shaped skirt; front opens on brass hinges and supports, revealing a leather lined writing surface and (4) interior drawers beneath an upper shelf and separated by a space beneath which is a hidden compartment
