Eastman, Capt. USA, each volume illustrated with duotone and color plates, engravings, maps and portraits; references: Sabin L. 77849, Howes S-183; together with Frances S. Nichols’ ‘Index’ published by the Smithsonian, Bulletin #152, 1954

Condition: Good, overall moderate to heavy wear to bindings consistent with normal use and age; missing volumes #2 and #5; splits to cloth at most hinges, some repaired with tape; losses to spine ends; bumped corners having wear-through; fading and soil to cloth; volume #4 lacks (2) pages of index and rear fly leaf; assembled set having varying cloth colors and names to (2); interior hinges split volumes #4 and #6; volume #1 plate #30 loose but present; occasional chips and bent corners to pages; occasional foxing and toning of plates, missing tissue guards, accidental marks (but no notes or marginalia noted); occasional pulled signatures but bindings holding
