1886 by Louis Bourdery (1852-1901), initialed ‘LB’ lower right quadrant, signed and dated on reverse; depicting a Carmelite nun in a church interior; having an octagonal back plate and a scallop-form font; mounted to a later wood backing having leather trim
Provenance: Collection of Lucy and Stanley Lopata, St. Louis, Missouri; thence by descent
Property from: a Chicago, Illinois (Gold Coast) estate
Height: 7 1/2 inches, Width: 5 1/4 inches, Depth: 2 1/4 inches (without wood mount)
Frame Size: 13 1/2 inches by 9 3/4 inches
Condition: Very Good, small chips at mounting nails, top edge; small chips, wear and possible repair at bottom near attachment of font; wear and detached leather trim to wood mount (included)
