Smollet’s History of England, Thackeray’s Works, Fine Binding Assortment
Thirty-one volumes, half-bound gilt tooled leather over marbled boards, all edges and end papers marbled, including ‘The History of England’ in four volumes, complete, by T. Smollett, London, 1848, having engraved frontispiece; ‘The Works of William Makepeace Thackeray’ in twenty-four volumes, complete, London, 1879, illustrated; six additional volumes from a set of the American edition of ‘Thackeray’s Works’; together with ‘Rand McNally’s Standard Atlas of the World’ 1948 edition, full leather having a slipcase
Condition: Very Good to Fair, overall light to heavy wear consistent with age and normal use; bindings rubbed, scuffed and bumped to extremities; titles legible; most exterior hinges holding, many being tender, some beginning to split; the full set of Thackeray having bookplates and detached boards to first three volumes, volume three missing its front board
