L. Frank Baum, Reilly & Britton, Chicago, 1910; illustrated by John R. Neill; first edition, having the first state binding, black and orange endpapers and having sixteen color plates embellished with metallic green ink; it retains its original first state dust wrapper with five titles listed on the back, ending with ‘John Dough and the Cherub’ as does the list on the reverse of ownership page

Condition: Very Good, minimal wear to extremities and pasted cover panel; spine ends lightly bumped and rolled, but with no chips or splits; binding is square and text block is sound; no torn or thumbed pages, corners or plates; pencil gift inscription on reverse of free endpaper, and dealer’s marks on ownership page; ink signature of noted collector on half-title; dust wrapper has chips and tears which have been repaired with tape, and moderate soil and discoloration
