Native American Sioux Full Length Beaded Trade Cloth Leggings
c.1870, a pair of dark blue (almost black) trade cloth dance leggings, reportedly belonging to Sitting Bull, trimmed with bands of color cloth including flat braid US uniform trim and having tipi and cross on white ground lazy stitch beadwork on tanned hide sewn to the cloth
Provenance: Purchased from American painter and printmaker Bob Coronato in Arizona 2013

Condition: overall moderate wear consistent with normal use, tie straps and color trim faded and having occasional wear-through and losses, a small loss to beads at top edge of one, light dirt accumulation and occasional accretions to trade cloth, book having light wear
