David Roberts (Scottish, 1796-1864) Lithographs

(2) items including 1841 ‘Citadel of Jerusalem’, plate dated and titled lower left, depicting figures and structures; and undated ‘View of the Nile – Ferry to Gizeh’ plate signed lower right and plate titled lower left, depicting figures and boats; Nile behind glass, both velvet matted, velvet and gold tone wood frames

Provenance: The Estate of George ‘Yorgo’ Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan from 1965-2000

Condition: Good, overall light wear consistent with age and normal use; both having toning and some spots of foxing throughout; Citadel lacks glass and having wear to velvet mat; Nile having dirt accumulation to outside of glass; light wear to frames
